Description BASIC FUNCTION:
Provide technical coordination support for the Melt Shop or Rolling Mill to include the development and refinement of operating procedures for the electric arc furnace, caster, rolling mills, finishing equipment, and all related auxiliary equipment, ladle, and the processing and handling of scrap and finished product.
NATURE AND SCOPE:
This position is primarily responsible for developing, refining, and communicating the engineering and operating data needed to produce billets and finished products.
This position reports to the department superintendent or General Supervisor of Operations or Maintenance.
Although there are no employees reporting directly to this position, the incumbent does provide advisory and training responsibilities for other exempt and hourly production and maintenance employees.
The incumbent should have a basic knowledge of metallurgy and an understanding of steel manufacturing and techniques used in the melting, refining, and casting of molten steel or modern rolling practices.

Qualifications include possession of abilities and knowledge as may be demonstrated by one with a complete college education in Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering curriculum, as well as 3 to 5 years of related work experience.
